A phone-shaped e-reader spends most of its life in your hand or in your pocket. But sometimes you want to leave it propped up reading over breakfast, on a Wi-Fi video call, watching a podcast episode audio while you cook. The basic flip cover doesn’t help with any of that. This one does.

The Flip-Fold Case’s cover folds into a compact stand hold at multiple angles for reading, watching, or hands-free work. Combined with the Palma’s already pocket-friendly form factor, it turns a phone-sized reader into a surprisingly capable desktop device when you need it.

Everything else you’d expect from an official BOOX case is here: PU leather, magnetic closure, precise camera cutout, and the exact fit that generic third-party cases struggle to match. Plus one thing generic cases don’t offer — backwards compatibility with the original 2023 Palma alongside the newer 2024 Palma 2.

One case, two generations of Palma

BOOX made a smart design choice: both the original BOOX Palma (2023) and the BOOX Palma 2 (2024) share nearly identical dimensions — 159 × 80 × 8 mm. That means one case fits both. Practical implications:

• You upgraded from Palma to Palma 2? Your existing Flip-Fold case still fits.
• You own both? Buy one case, share between devices as needed.
• You’re not sure which model you have? The case fits either — no wrong choice.

Not compatible with the BOOX Palma 2 Pro (2025) the Pro variant has different dimensions to accommodate its added InkSense Plus stylus support and larger battery, so it needs its own dedicated case.

The Flip-Fold stand mode

The Flip-Fold’s cover has integrated folding creases that let it hold multiple stable positions:

• Low reading angle — gentle tilt for hands-free reading on a desk, kitchen table, or bedside
• Steeper viewing angle — better for video calls, watching content, or reading while cooking
• Portrait or landscape — the fold works in both orientations, so you can prop the Palma vertically (for reading) or horizontally (for video)

For a device that’s essentially phone-sized, having a proper stand mode is a genuine ergonomic upgrade — no more balancing your Palma against a coffee mug for hands-free use.

Three colours to choose from

• Black — the classic professional default, understated and business-appropriate in any environment
• Grey — a softer alternative that stays neutral but with a warmer, less severe aesthetic
• Blue — deeper personality-forward option, still conservative enough for professional use but with distinct visual identity

All three versions are functionally identical same materials, same magnets, same camera cutout, same fold mechanism. Choose based on aesthetic preference or what matches your other gear.

Materials and construction

Exterior — PU leather. Wear-resistant, textured for grip, holds up to daily pocket carry and desk use without ageing quickly. Not top-grain leather, but the sensible material for something that travels between pocket, bag, and desk multiple times a day.

Interior — soft cloth lining. Cushions the Palma’s back panel against scratches and prevents dust ingress into the internal cavity. Also passively cleans the back surface with normal daily movement.

Camera cutout. Precisely aligned to the Palma’s 16 MP rear camera position. Take photos, scan documents with the built-in OCR, and use the LED flash without opening the cover or removing the case.

Magnetic closure. The cover flips open like a book and closes via magnetic buckle on the front — one-thumb opening, reliable pocket-carry closure.

Flip-Fold vs the basic Palma PU Case which to pick

BOOX makes a simpler Palma 2 PU Case without the stand feature. Trade-offs:

Pick the Flip-Fold if: You’ll actually use the stand mode (reading over meals, video calls, cooking), or you want a case that works across both Palma generations.

Pick the basic PU Case if: You never leave the device propped up, want the absolute lightest possible case, or specifically own only the Palma 2.

Care and maintenance

• Wipe the exterior with a soft dry cloth to keep it looking new
• Avoid heavy water exposure — PU leather is water-resistant against light splashes but not waterproof
• Keep out of extended direct sunlight — UV over years fades the Blue and Grey slightly; Black is more UV-resistant
• Test the stand mode on stable surfaces — don’t prop the case on soft/uneven surfaces where it might tip
