BOOX Note Air 4 C Magnetic Case
What this case does and why it earns its price over generic alternatives
BOOX ships the Note Air 4 C without a case in the box. Add-on cases from third-party sellers exist for cheaper, but they mostly compromise on one of three things: material quality, magnetic retention strength, or the auto sleep/wake alignment that actually works with the tablet’s sensors.
This is the official BOOX magnetic case, designed exactly to the Note Air 4 C’s dimensions and internal sensor positions. What that gets you:
- Precise magnetic alignment — the case’s internal magnets snap the tablet in place at exact factory-designed positions, no wobble or shift over months of use
- Sensor-accurate auto sleep/wake — closing the cover reliably puts the tablet to sleep and reopening wakes it; the sleep magnet is where the tablet expects it, unlike some third-party cases that miss the alignment and don’t work
- Stylus retention flap — a magnetic flap holds the BOOX Pen Plus against the case even when the cover is closed, so it doesn’t fall out during transport
- Cutouts sized correctly — access to buttons, USB-C port, and speakers is aligned to the tablet’s actual layout, not approximated
For a $500+ tablet with an included EMR stylus, the incremental cost of the official case is small compared to protecting the investment properly.
The three-way stand different angles for different tasks
A single-angle case works fine if you only ever do one thing with your tablet. If you read AND write AND browse, one angle can’t serve all three. The case’s fold-out stand offers three practical positions:
- 12° gentle incline — the reading angle. Tablet lies almost flat but tilted just enough that your neck isn’t craning over it during long reading sessions
- Steeper mid-angle — the writing angle. Good for note-taking with the Pen Plus, where you want a slight slope to make writing feel natural without the tablet sliding around
- Nearly vertical — the display/browsing angle. Best for watching video (limited on E Ink), video calls, or reading a document while typing on a separate keyboard
The stand works in both portrait (upright for reading) and landscape (widescreen for movies or split-screen work), so the three angles multiply into effective flexibility across different use cases.
Magnetic protection for device and stylus
Two magnetic systems in one case:
Device retention — internal magnets in the back cover grip the Note Air 4 C’s rear panel firmly enough that the tablet won’t slide out even if you invert the case fully. Removing it takes deliberate pull, not accidental slip.
Stylus retention flap — a small magnetic flap on the case wraps around the Pen Plus stylus (which magnetically attaches to the tablet’s side), keeping it in place when the cover is closed. Without this flap, a magnetically-attached stylus can dislodge in a bag; with it, the pen stays put.
Both systems combined mean the tablet + stylus + case travel as a single unit. Drop the whole assembly into a bag or backpack and everything stays secured.
Auto sleep/wake
The case’s built-in cover magnet aligns with the Note Air 4 C’s internal sensor. Practical result:
- Close the cover → tablet sleeps automatically (saves battery, protects display from accidental input)
- Open the cover → tablet wakes to your last-active screen (no button press needed)
This is not a case-specific software feature it uses the tablet’s built-in “smart cover” sensor. Genuine BOOX cases have the sensor magnet in the right place; many generic alternatives don’t, which is why they fail the auto sleep/wake test.

Compatibility read this before ordering
Confirmed compatible:
- ✅ BOOX Note Air 4 C (2024 release, 10.3″ colour ePaper tablet)
Compatibility with earlier Note Air 3 series is claimed by some retailers, but BOOX’s official product page lists compatibility with the Note Air 4 C only. Physical dimensions are similar between generations, so the case may fit but the auto sleep/wake sensor alignment, magnetic retention strength, and cutout positions are optimised for the Note Air 4 C specifically. If you own a Note Air 3 series device (Note Air 3, Note Air 3 C), consider the dedicated Note Air 3 magnetic case instead.
Not compatible:
- ❌ BOOX Note Air 5 C — the newer 2025 release, uses a different case
- ❌ BOOX Note Max — 13.3″ tablet, larger; needs its own case
- ❌ BOOX Tab X C — 13.3″ tablet, uses different accessory line
- ❌ BOOX Go 10.3 / Go 10.3 Gen II / Go Color 7 — different form factors
Where the case earns its cost
- Daily commute protection — the tablet lives in a backpack; the case protects it from bag friction and small drops
- Meeting portability — walk into meetings with the tablet + pen bundled, ready to write
- Travel — the magnetic stylus flap prevents the pen from disappearing at the bottom of a carry-on
- Home use — the three-angle stand converts the tablet into a hands-free reader or a propped-up writing surface
- Long-term care — small investment protects a $500+ device from years of daily use
Care and maintenance
- Wipe the exterior with a soft dry cloth — synthetic leather doesn’t need conditioning like real leather
- Avoid submersion or heavy water exposure — the case is not waterproof, and prolonged moisture will damage the synthetic leather over time
- Keep out of direct sunlight for extended periods — UV exposure fades the ultra-dark gray/green colour over years
- Remove the tablet occasionally — clean any dust that accumulates in the corners of the internal cavity
