Who actually uses it
Musicians — the design brief this pedal was born from. Digital sheet music apps (forScore, MobileSheets, Newzik, Piascore) have transformed how instrumentalists practise and perform, but “turning” a digital page still requires a hand off the instrument. This solves that.
Presenters — advance slides while walking the room, gesturing with a laser pointer, or holding a coffee. Works with PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Slides, and any presentation app that accepts arrow-key navigation.
Readers with limited hand mobility — the pedal is a genuinely useful accessibility aid for anyone who finds physical page-turning difficult, whether from arthritis, injury, or a permanent condition.
Home cooks — every recipe on your BOOX or tablet is one greasy fingerprint away from staining the screen. Foot-turn the page instead.
Content creators and streamers — read scripts, follow production notes, or navigate cue sheets while both hands are on a camera, controller, or instrument.

How the four modes actually work
The pedal presents itself to your device as a Bluetooth HID keyboard. When you press a pedal, it sends a keyboard shortcut. Four selectable modes send different shortcuts, so the pedal works with different app categories:
- Mode 1 — Page Up / Page Down (standard for most reader apps, PDF viewers, some sheet music apps)
- Mode 2 — Left Arrow / Right Arrow (presentation apps, some browsers, some music apps)
- Mode 3 — Up Arrow / Down Arrow (long-form documents, scroll-based apps)
- Mode 4 — Space / Return (specialised music apps, some ebook readers)
Switch modes by long-pressing the mode button until the red indicator blinks. Blink count matches the current mode (one blink = Mode 1, two blinks = Mode 2, and so on).
A note on BOOX-specific functions: two additional buttons on the pedal Front Light and Screenshot — work only inside the BOOX NeoReader app on BOOX devices. On non-BOOX tablets and phones, they don’t do anything, which is expected behaviour and not a fault.

Setup the two-minute version
- Charge for at least 30 minutes before first use with the included USB-C cable.
- Switch the power on (small slider switch on the side).
- Open Bluetooth settings on your device.
- Press any pedal or button on the BOOX Blue — this puts it in pairing mode.
- Tap “Boox blue” when it appears in your device’s Bluetooth list.
- Open the app you want to control and try both pedals.
- If the pedals don’t do what you expect, switch modes (long-press the mode button until the red indicator blinks) and try again until you land on the right shortcut set for your app.
Once paired, the pedal auto-reconnects to the last device whenever both are powered on.

For any app that accepts standard keyboard navigation shortcuts, one of the four modes will work. Test each mode in the app you use most, then leave it set to that mode.
Practical tips from real use
- Position it slightly off-centre from your chair or piano bench so you don’t accidentally trigger it while shifting position
- Store the USB-C cable somewhere obvious — 90-day standby means you’ll forget where you put it by the time you need it
- Wipe the pedal surfaces occasionally — dust and shoe grit build up more than you’d expect
- Turn off the power switch for long trips or storage; standby drains slowly but not zero
- Pair to your primary device only — while the pedal remembers the last device, jumping between three or four devices means re-pairing more often than you’d like
