The Ubiquiti UniFi 5G Max is a cellular modem for UniFi networks. Ubiquiti describes it as “a high-performance 5G (3.4 Gbps) modem for any UniFi deployment”, adopted “through any UniFi PoE port” with “automatic setup, dual SIM/eSIM, and seamless failover”. It is intended for sites that need a cellular WAN — either as the primary connection where fibre or copper is not available, or as an automatic backup behind a UniFi gateway when the fixed line drops. Because it is powered and connected over a single Ethernet run, it can be placed wherever the signal is best rather than next to the rack.
Key features
- 5G NR and LTE modem with four embedded cellular antennas
- Peak 5G NSA data speed of 3.4 Gbps downlink and 560 Mbps uplink as published by Ubiquiti
- Dual SIM: one Nano SIM slot plus a second slot that takes either a Nano SIM or eSIM, for carrier failover
- Single 2.5 GbE RJ45 port carries both data and power
- Power method is PoE, with a maximum draw of 14.5W — so it runs from a UniFi PoE switch port
- 1.3″ touchscreen on the unit for status and signal information
- Broad band support across 5G NR and 4G LTE (full band list below)
- Adopted and monitored in the UniFi Network application alongside the rest of the site
- NDAA compliant
