UniFi Access Reader G3 Pro Black (UA-G3-PRO-B)
One device that replaces reader, intercom, keypad, and doorbell
The UA-G3-PRO-B is Ubiquiti’s flagship access reader the unit you spec when a single door has to do the work of four devices. It reads NFC cards, accepts a PIN, scans a QR code, unlocks on a phone tap, watches a face, and rings the front desk with two-way video. All over one PoE cable, managed inside the UniFi Access app you already use.
The black finish is the “-B” variant of the G3 Reader Pro. Same hardware and firmware as the white UA-G3-PRO-W choose black for dark-clad entryways, glass storefronts, and interiors where matte black hardware is already the design language.
Apple Touch Pass, out of the box
Touch Pass turns a resident’s or employee’s iPhone or Apple Watch into their credential. Provisioned through Apple Wallet, it works with Express Mode no unlock, no Face ID, no app open. Just present the phone at the reader. Ten one-year Touch Passes are included with every UA-G3-PRO-B, and additional passes can be added through the UniFi Access subscription.
Google Wallet support is included on the same reader for Android sites and mixed-fleet deployments.
Seven ways to open a door
Different tenants, different shifts, different situations. The G3 Reader Pro handles them all in one enrolment:
- NFC cards and keyfobs — MIFARE Classic, DESFire, FeliCa (ID only), and NFC Forum T1T–T5T tags at 13.56 MHz
- PIN codes — on the 4.7″ capacitive touchscreen
- QR code — visitor and delivery access without provisioning a physical credential
- Apple Touch Pass — Express Mode, no unlock required
- Google Wallet — same experience on Android
- UniFi Identity mobile unlock — from the app on the user’s phone
- Face unlock — enrolled per user, using the onboard 12 MP camera
Set policy per user or per group. Force MFA on high-security doors, permit single-factor on low-risk ones.
Video intercom built in
The reader is also the doorbell. A visitor taps to call, and the two-way video and audio session opens on the UniFi Access app on the resident’s or receptionist’s phone with a live view from the reader’s 12 MP wide-angle camera at up to 30 FPS. Approve remotely, unlock remotely, log the event automatically. The visitor sees themselves on the 4.7″ screen at ADA-compliant mounting height.

Certifications that matter on a spec sheet
The G3 Reader Pro is one of the few readers at this price point that holds a full UL 294 Level I listing across all four attack surfaces (destructive attack, line security, endurance, standby power) plus CAN/ULC-60839-11-1 Grade I. If your tender specifies UL 294, this reader passes without a substitution request.
NDAA compliance clears US federal and enterprise procurement gates that block covered-manufacturer hardware under Section 889.

Deployment notes
- Single PoE cable runs both power and data. Use Cat 5e minimum; Cat 6/6A for longer runs. 26 AWG minimum for patch cords, 24 AWG for horizontal/riser runs.
- Managed by the UniFi Access application running on a UniFi Cloud Gateway or self-hosted UniFi Network Server. No separate controller subscription for the reader itself.
- Camera integration — link the reader’s onboard camera into UniFi Protect for unified event review across access and CCTV.
- Door lock control happens on the UniFi Access Hub (UA-Hub-*) — the reader authorises, the hub switches the strike or mag lock. Pair with UACC-LOCK-STRIKE-SAFE-15MM or UACC-LOCK-STRIKE-SECURE-15MM depending on egress requirements.
- Face unlock works reliably down to −10 °C at the display; below that the display disables while the reader still accepts NFC, PIN, mobile, and Touch Pass.
Choosing between UA-G3-PRO-B and other UniFi readers
- UA-G3-PRO-B (this SKU) — full touchscreen, face unlock, two-way video intercom. Main entries, reception doors, front-of-house.
- UA-G3 — no display, no camera, tap-only. Interior office doors, storerooms.
- UA-G3-PRO-W — same as this SKU but in white.
Pick the Pro for entries visitors interact with; pick the standard G3 for internal doors where a card tap is all you need
