Ubiquiti PowerBeam PBE-M5-400 | 5GHz airMAX Bridge · 25dBi · 25+ km
Point-to-point wireless that bridges the gap literally
The Ubiquiti PowerBeam M5 400 (PBE-M5-400) is a 5GHz airMAX bridge built to carry a network connection across distances that cable can’t reach up to 25+ km line-of-sight. Its integrated 25dBi directional dish focuses the signal into a tight beam, delivering 150+ Mbps of real throughput while filtering out the interference that degrades lesser links. Whether you’re connecting two buildings, extending internet to an outbuilding, or building a wireless ISP link, the PowerBeam does the job in a single all-in-one unit.
This isn’t a Wi-Fi access point for your living room it’s a long-range point-to-point (and point-to-multipoint) bridge for connecting locations.
25+ km range with a focused 25dBi beam
The PBE-M5-400’s integrated 25dBi high-gain antenna on a 400mm dish concentrates RF energy into a narrow, directional beam the highest gain for its size in the PowerBeam range. That focus does two things: it reaches 25+ km line-of-sight, and it dramatically improves noise immunity by spatially filtering out interference from other signals. In a crowded RF environment, that tight beamwidth is what keeps the link stable.
150+ Mbps real throughput
Running on the 5GHz band (5150–5875 MHz) with Ubiquiti’s airMAX technology, the PowerBeam delivers 150+ Mbps of real TCP/IP throughput enough for internet backhaul, site-to-site data, VoIP, and video across the link.
airMAX TDMA why it beats standard Wi-Fi outdoors
Standard Wi-Fi wasn’t built for long-range outdoor links with multiple clients. Ubiquiti’s airMAX protocol uses TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access), giving each client scheduled time slots instead of letting them compete for airtime. The result:
- Eliminates hidden-node collisions that plague standard Wi-Fi bridges
- Lower latency and more consistent throughput
- Better scalability for point-to-multipoint setups
- Intelligent QoS — prioritises voice and video for seamless streaming
InnerFeed integrated design no cable losses
Ubiquiti’s InnerFeed technology integrates the radio directly into the feedhorn of the antenna, so there’s no separate cable between radio and dish. That eliminates cable losses entirely, improving performance, and simplifies installation it’s a genuine all-in-one unit.
Built to survive outdoors
The PowerBeam is engineered for permanent outdoor mounting in harsh conditions:
- Wind survivability up to 125 mph (200 km/h)
- Operating temperature −40 to 70°C
- ESD/EMP protection ±24 kV (air and contact)
- UV-stabilised outdoor plastic enclosure
- Built-in mechanical tilt (+20° to −10°) for precise aiming
- Pole-mount kit included, wall-mount capable
Easy alignment and setup
Software-adjustable signal strength LEDs correspond to custom RSSI levels, so you can aim the dish precisely for the strongest link without guesswork. Four WLAN LEDs plus power and LAN indicators make status clear at a glance.

Ideal for
- Building-to-building links — connect two sites across a property, campus, or town
- Internet extension — carry a connection to a shed, barn, outbuilding, or neighbouring structure
- Wireless ISP (WISP) deployments — customer premises equipment for last-mile links
- Point-to-multipoint networks — one base station serving multiple PowerBeam clients
- Rural and remote connectivity — where running fibre or cable isn’t practical
- CCTV and IoT backhaul — carrying camera or sensor data across a distance
Important: this is passive PoE
The PBE-M5-400 uses 24V passive PoE and includes its matching injector in the box. Don’t power it from a standards-based (802.3af/at) PoE switch without a converter passive PoE and standards-based PoE aren’t interchangeable, and a mismatch can damage the unit. Use the included injector, and always deploy a PowerBeam at each end of a point-to-point link (they’re sold individually unless you buy a multi-pack).
