CZ800 Ultra 4K 25X Optical Zoom PoE PTZ Speed Dome Security Camera

Optical Zoom PoE PTZ Speed Dome Security Camera

Zoom gets you close. Resolution decides what’s there when you arrive. The CZ800 Ultra pairs 25X optical zoom with a 4K sensor, so the frame you pull at maximum reach holds roughly twice the pixel detail of a 4MP camera the difference between knowing a car was there and knowing which car.

Reach that doesn’t degrade

25X optical zoom, driven by real glass rather than a digital crop that simply magnifies blur. Combined with 4K capture, you can zoom into a recorded frame afterwards and still have something to look at which is how most footage is actually used. Nobody is watching live at 2am; they’re scrubbing back the next morning and pinching into the corner of the shot.

Covers ground three fixed cameras would need

Full 360° pan and 90° tilt with preset patrol positions and automatic tracking, so one unit watches a whole yard, forecourt or rural boundary instead of staring at a fixed rectangle. Presets let it check the gate, the shed and the driveway on a loop, then follow anything that moves.

The practical stuff

4K or 4MP? The honest answer

Worth understanding before you choose between this and the CZ500 Ultra, because more resolution isn’t automatically better.

4K gives you: more pixels on a distant subject, more room to crop into a recorded frame, and better plate legibility at the far end of the zoom range.

4K costs you: roughly double the storage and bandwidth for the same recording period. Frame rate at full resolution may be lower than the 4MP model’s 30fps worth checking, because a fast-moving subject at a lower frame rate can be less useful than a slower-moving one at 30fps. And where a 4K sensor packs more, smaller pixels into a similar sensor area, low-light performance can be worse than a 4MP camera, not better.

Choose 4K if your priority is daylight detail at distance plates, faces, and cropping into recorded footage on a large property.

Choose 4MP if your priority is night performance, smooth motion, or keeping storage and network load down across several cameras.

Before you order

Check your PoE budget and your storage. A 4K PTZ runs motors, illuminators and possibly a heater, and it writes substantially larger files. Confirm your switch has the power headroom and your recorder has the capacity for the retention period you actually want.

Aim it at your own land. A camera that can zoom 25X in 4K sees into neighbouring properties in real detail. Use privacy masking and presets to keep coverage on your boundary, and have the conversation before it goes up.

Audio is optional for a reason. If this model has a microphone input, recording sound carries obligations in New Zealand that video alone doesn’t. Many installers leave it unconnected deliberately.
